All you have to do is dedicate some of your time, and go through the various options, and just with a click, you get your selected things delivered to you. 

These days, online shopping gives its customers many varieties of options. Be it electronics, clothes, furniture, or even medicine, you name it, the online shopping sites have it! In fact, with the rise of the pandemic, even grocery shopping went online, as none wished to take a risk and step outside. Among these, one very famous grocery delivery service provider in the United States is “instacart”. 

What is Instacart?

Instacart is an American company founded in 2012. It is a grocery pick up and delivery service, operating in the United States and Canada. As of 2021, it serves approximately 5,500 cities in the US and Canada and has a revenue of around $1.5 billion (based on the data of 2020).

The application lets the customer shop from the grocery stores located in their neighborhood and delivers it to them. The grocery delivery app partners with local shops, pharmacies, membership stores, and supermarkets. 

HOW TO ORDER FROM INSTACART?

One can order from instacart using their official website or their app that can be easily found in the play store.

The application creates a “virtual shopping cart” where the selected items are placed, and later a “personal shopper”, i.e. the delivery man, fills them in real life. The app provides delivery within 5 hours, the same day. However, people can opt for later delivery, such as after a day or two.

However, sometimes we might end up getting something we did not order or missed something we ordered. Or worst-case scenario, you get spoiled groceries delivered to you. In such cases, you can ask for a refund. 

Eligibility for a Refund

For a refund, the customers need to be eligible in at least one of the following criteria as mentioned in the terms laid down by the company:

Missing items

If the customer is missing any product they had selected and it was not delivered to them. 

Damaged items

If any product delivered to the customer arrived broken, or “in an unusable condition”

Poor quality replacement

If the “shopper” included and delivered a replacement that was not approved by the customer through the platform

Late arrivals

If the order arrived later than the scheduled delivery period.

Unprofessional services

If the “shopper” behaved inappropriately during the shopping or delivery process

However, in the first three conditions, the company provides a “partial refund”. Only the specific missing/damaged item is taken into consideration. In the last two options, the company provides for a full refund or credit in a future order.

How To Get a Refund From Instacard?

To get a refund, if you are eligible for the above criteria, you can either call them on their official number or mail them and get in touch with the instacart care member.

Generally, a request for a refund submitted within 24 hours of receiving the order is analyzed and approved within the same day. They do not appear as separate line items in the customer’s bank or credit card items, rather the original charge disappears from the statement. 

However, you can still apply for a refund within seven days of the delivery or pickup. If not processed immediately, it can take up to 5-10 business days for the refunds to be processed. Again, the refunds won’t be shown in the instacart account and instead, on the bank and the credit card account. 

How to Know If You Have Received a Refund?

For the same-day refund, one can check it through the digital receipt. By going to the “charges” section, one can find the “original charge”, the “refund for the order issue” and the “total charged” option.

The “original charge” is the amount that Instacart charged you when your order was completed.  The “refund for the order issue” shows the refunds that were processed by instacart after the order was completeLastly, the “total charged” is the final order total. This includes the refunds from the original charge.  

Other than this, refunds can also be seen through “instacart credits”. These are in the “credits, promos & gift cards” section of the instacart account. These credits are applied automatically during the checkout of the next order. 

However, if you have not received your refund after 5-10 business days, you can contact the customer service number.
