After years of back and forth developments concerning a movie adaptation, Marvel is instead turning Inhumans into a TV show. A race of super-powered part-aliens that exist in isolation from humanity, the most famous members of the Inhumans (from the world of Marvel Comics) is that of the Inhuman Royal Family. Naturally, the Royal Family will be the focus of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s own Inhumans TV series.

While Inhumans will air on ABC this fall, its first two episodes will debut in IMAX ahead of then. With the IMAX company co-financing Inhumans, the two-part premiere will act like a movie before being spun off into a series. In the past few weeks, we’ve learned quite a bit about the series as well. We were treated to the full Inhumans cast list last week, before finding out that Charles Soule’s popular NuHuman characters will appear on the series. As for those fans worried the TV show would have to skimp on the Inhumans comics’ more fantastical elements, the 2,000 pound teleporting dog Lockjaw is confirmed to appear on Inhumans the TV show, too.

A few days ago, we got our first look at the pre-CGI Lockjaw along with Anson Mount in costume as Black Bolt, the Inhuman king. The pictures came courtesy of Reel News Hawaii, which has now shared a few more images from the set along with a brief description of the scene being filmed:

Their description seems to indicate that not only will the street scene be Oahu, and not some version of the Inhuman’s home, but that Black Bolt will purposely be revealing himself to humankind here. It seems as if the Lockjaw stand-in will only be briefly used, teleporting Black Bolt onto the street before disappearing. Given how much CGI the creature will need, expect this to be standard operating procedure for his appearances. As for why Black Bolt, the notoriously reserved leader, would declare himself in such audacious fashion is anyone’s guess.

In addition, Reel News Hawaii posted a tweet describing the alien extras they’ve seen on set:

Saw a whole lot of aliens on the set of “Inhumans” last night. Dreads, bald heads, alien makeup & normal looking folks. Pretty cool.— Reel News Hawaii (@reelnewshawaii) March 8, 2017

It’s not clear if this is the same set as the street scene. If so, it’s curious why a bunch of Inhumans who have visibly gone through Terrigenesis would be walking the streets. It’s unlikely Black Bolt would teleport them all. This leaves two options: either the scenes do take place inside the Inhuman’s home of Attilan, or the aliens are NuHumans who have recently gone through Terrigenesis. There’s also no word yet on whether the show will connect to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., as the latter has already introduced the Inhumans to the MCU and expanded their population (via a mass dispersal of Terrigen).

Reel News has been on a role lately as one of the main sources in the state to detail the movements of Inhumans, ever since Disney and Marvel set up shop in Oahu. They’re also teased that the series might be filming in the famous Diamond Head volcanic crater. The location could be any number of interesting places, from Attilan to the site of an ancient alien invasion. That, or it could just be a cool, modern shooting spot. Either way, we’ll know a lot more soon enough as Inhumans is just six months away.

Inhumans comes to IMAX theaters for two weeks starting Friday, September 1st prior to its television debut on Tuesday, September 26th on ABC.
