We’ve covered Infuse a few times — a slick media player for iOS devices and as of late last year the new Apple TV. Today the apps are getting updates to version 4.2, bringing a handful of notable features to both the iOS and tvOS apps.
The highlights include a new Library View with Smart Filters on Apple TV and Spotlight search on iPhones and iPads, but there is a long list of other new features and improvements for both.
For Apple TV, users will also get a new artwork picker for folder and library favorites, personalized trakt ratings for rated content, additional continuous playback options, Apple TV ‘Dolby Digital’ option that now works with 7.1 content, and a handful of other tweaks and improvements.
Introducing our brand spankin’ new Library View which makes finding videos to watch super quick and easy. Infuse will search deep within your folders to catalog every movie, TV show, and cat video it can find and group them all together in a slick new menu. Plus, with a set of all-new Smart Filters, you can browse by genre, rating, release date, age rating, and even get an overview of all unwatched or recently added items with just a few taps.
Not only is browsing super-easy when using Smart Filters, these can also be used to create Favorites that appear right on the Infuse home screen. Want quick access to kids movies? Done. How about unwatched TV shows? No problem. With just a few taps you can customize Infuse to ensure the content you want to enjoy is front and center for whenever you’re ready. Even better, adding custom artwork for your Favorites can now be done right from the Apple TV menus.
And many of those features, including the personalized trakt ratings and new playback options are also present in the iOS app update in addition to Spotlight search (pictured above) and a few other enhancements. A full list of what’s new in both apps is below.
You can get the updated apps on the App Store sometime later today. The app is free with an upgrade to Pro for $9.99 to unlock a handful of features.
