Just in time for the iPad 2 launch today, first triple-A iPad games have received timely updates designed to take advantage of the gizmo’s advertised nine times graphics performance increase. Enhanced versions of both medieval sword fighting Infinity Blade by Chair and Electronic Arts’ Dead Space for iPad just went live on the App Store, proudly advertising prettier and more complex graphics made possible by the A5 chip inside iPad 2.
Chair says Infinity Blade now “includes high-resolution graphics that utilize the enhanced visual capabilities of the iPad 2” (top left) while Electronic Arts makes a brief mention of “enhanced graphics for iPad 2” in the updated Dead Space for iPad (top right) plus new look sensitivity and Y-axis inversion options.
The free Infinity Blade update brings the iPad version of the game on par with the recently updated iPhone version that brought new enemies, arenas and items, a brand new dungeon, the ability to boost your character from scratch and more.
If you haven’t yet played Infinity Blade, you don’t know what you’re missing. It’s the first game to utilize Epic’s Unreal engine and it’s been regularly featured in Apple’s iPad and iPhone commercials. With the latest update, it’s probably the killer title at this point. Use it to show off what the iPad 2 is capable of, although that’s just scratching the surface – wait until first iPad 2-specific games land on the App Store.
