Infinity: Battlescape is an indie project by I-Novae Studios that is seeking to make space combat fun for everyone. The I-Novae Studios team that has worked on games like Gears of War 1 and 2, and Unreal Tournament 3. The game will include interplanetary warfare, high-quality graphics, Newtonian physics, an offline sandbox, and something we haven’t seen in a long time: no loading screen. Since the team despises loading screens, they went out of their way to create a new game engine that they describe as “revolutionary”. This new game engine is named I-Novae Engine - after the team of course.
Players will choose from three different corporations, Scoria Inc., C.P.L. Tech, or Havoc Excavations. There is no mention as to whether ships will be locked to a specific corporation, but they will have different classes. There are Light to Medium Starships, like Fighters and Corvettes. Then there are Capital Starships, like Destroyers, Cruisers, and Carriers. Players will be able to buy these ships is with the in-game currency called “credits”. You can receive credits through in-game activities.
Infinity: Battlescape isn’t finished being created. The team estimates that Alpha will begin October 2016 and Beta in April 2017. So unfortunately we won’t get this game for a long time. But for now, it does have a downloadable HD in-engine trailer on their Kickstarter page for players to check out.
