Nevertheless, YouTube Premium continues to soldier forward with new seasons of its highest profile originals, meaning the Doug Liman-produced Impulse will follow Cobra Kai with its second season later this fall. The teen drama took a sharp turn away from Liman’s Jumper, a 2008 feature film adaptation of Steven Gould’s book series that starred Hayden Christensen and Samuel L. Jackson. The result is a chilly and often deadly serious teen drama from showrunner Lauren LeFranc that combined science fiction with a young woman’s coming-of-age story and a complex tale of small town crime.

YouTube Premium premiered the trailer for Impulse season 2 at Comic-Con 2019, showing what’s next for Maddie Hasson’s Henry Cole in the wake of the surprisingly violent end of season 1. Check out the trailer for the new season, as well as a synopsis of the series below:
Season 2 not only appears eager to follow through on the fallout from Henry’s inadvertent maiming of the boy who was trying to assault her, and his father’s fateful confrontation with the teleporting teen, but it will also build on the world of “jumpers” as well. Much of that falls on the shoulders of Callum Keith Rennie’s Nikolai, who gets quite a bit of screen time in the new trailer. That suggests Impulse season 2 is going to go all in on its sci-fi themes, ones that may not only see Henry gain more control over her unique abilities, but also find her embroiled in a much larger and more harrowing story to come.
“IMPULSE follows Henrietta “Henry” Cole (Maddie Hasson), a rebellious 16-year-old girl who has always felt different from her peers and longs to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. During a traumatic event, Henry discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport, and her newfound power confirms Henry’s conviction that she really was different from everybody else — but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her.”
