Instagram today rolled out a new logo and simpler design for its iOS and Android app. The company says that its new icon represents a simpler camera, with the rainbow living on in gradient form. In addition to the Instagram app itself, all other apps from Instagram — Layout, Boomerang, and Hyperlapse — are also getting a new refreshed icon. The company says that the refreshed colorful icons represent its diverse community....

Instagram’s Explore tab already features search and discovery for finding new photos and videos on the service, and now the social network is introducing new location and hashtag stories. The new location stories will appear when you’re near that current location and other Instagram users are posting with the format and tagging location. Hashtag stories will appear from search results and include stories that use specific hashtag stickers. These new story features pull from everyone using geolocation stickers and hashtag stickers in stories, and Instagram says you could be included in the group story as well when using location and hashtag stickers....

Instagram announced today that it is updating its iOS and Android apps with a new feature dubbed ‘Photos of You’ making it easier to view and be notified of photos you care about most. The feature will make it easier for users uploading images to add mentions of people or things and also adds a new “Photos of You” section on your profile where tagged photos will gather: The feature will be in a sort of beta mode until May 16th at which time the Photos of You section will become visible on users’ public profiles....
