Earlier this year, Instagram announced that it was testing a design shift that would hide the number of likes on posts. Now, the company is expanding that design change to additional countries. TechCrunch reports today that Instagram will now hide the number of likes that posts get in six more countries starting today. These six countries join Canada as areas where Instagram is testing this change. Ireland Italy Japan Brazil Australia New Zealand What this means is that you’ll still be able to see the number of likes your posts get, but you won’t be able to see how many likes posts from other people receive....
Instagram has been developing a new way to share photos and videos on the social network with select friends, Instagram’s product lead Robby Stein tells The Verge. The new feature lets you select certain friends as Favorites, then new posts can be visible to all followers or just the select group of groups you put together. The idea is similar to what Instagram’s owner Facebook already does with groups. Facebook allows you to exclude certain friends from seeing specific posts or only share content with select groups....

Apple this evening appears to be suffering from a widespread outage, affecting a number of its online services. According to the company’s status page, The issues began roughly half an hour ago and are affecting the App Store, Apple TV, iBooks Store, iTunes Match, iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and Radio. Apple’s Online Store and iMessage also seem to be affected by the outage according to various tweets and the Down Detector website, although Apple’s status webpage makes no mention of iMessage and Apple Online Store issues....
